A Pembrokeshire man who threatened to bring a gun and baseball bat to his victim and chop her ears off has been sentenced at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court.
Paul Gurney, 32, whose address was given in court as c/o Maes Grug, Goodwick, was charged with sending communication threatening death or serious harm.
He appeared in front of magistrates in Haverfordwest on Tuesday, September 3.
The court heard that on February 11 this year Gurney sent his victim a message that conveyed a threat of serious harm, namely a threat to chop his victim’s ears off and attend her address with a gun and baseball bat.
The message was sent from a location in Whitland.
Magistrates gave Gurney a 12-month community order, as well as ordering him to undergo alcohol rehabilitation treatment.
He was also handed down a 12-month rehabilitation activity requirement, 150 hours unpaid work and ordered to pay £120 to his victim.
Magistrates made a restraining order to protect Gurney’s victim. He must not contact her directly or indirectly, must not enter any residential address that she occupies and must not refer to her directly or indirectly on social media.
