A HAVERFORDWEST man has been found not guilty of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl whilst she slept.

Kevin Stenson, 66, had gone on trial at Swansea Crown Court accused of two historical charges of sexual assault of a girl under 13 by penetration.

He denied both offences.

It had been alleged that Stenson sexually assaulted the girl whilst she slept in 2018 or 2019.

Prosecution counsel Helen Randall told the jury that the complainant did not tell anyone about the allegations at the time, but they came to light around two years later.

A report was later made to the police after she spoke with a member of her school’s pastoral care team, Ms Randall said.

Stenson was unanimously found not guilty of both offences by the jury.

“Mr Stenson, you are now formally acquitted of both counts and you are now free to leave the dock,” the judge, Recorder Christian Jowett, said following the verdict.

Recorder Jowett thanked the jury for the consideration they had given the case, as well as both prosecution and defence counsel.
