Two separate yellow weather warnings have been issued by the Met Office with heavy rain expected to hit west Wales in the coming days.

Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion are all predicted to experience significant rainfall overnight and on Friday (September 6).

The first yellow weather warning issued by the Met Office is in force from 9pm tonight (Wednesday, September 4) until 11.45pm tomorrow.

Scattered heavy showers are set for tonight with longer spells of heavy rain expected overnight and throughout Thursday.

Within the first hour or two, locations could see 20 to 40mm of rain within one or two hours.

As the rain continues, some areas could see 50 to 60mm and 80 to 100mm during the second half of Thursday.

Met Office has warned this could lead to difficult driving conditions, road closures and delays or cancellations to train and bus services.

People are advised to check road conditions in advance if driving or bus and train timetables if taking public transport.

Then, on Friday, a second yellow weather warning for rain has been issued by the Met Office, covering the entirety of the day.

Heavy rain flow is expected to continue with 15 to 30mm in most areas, 40 to 60mm in the wetter regions and 75 to 100mm in rare circumstances.

This could lead to power cuts to homes and businesses and a small chance of flooding with the potential for some communities to become blocked by flooded roads.

To deal with power cuts, gather torches, batteries and a mobile phone power pack.

As for flooding, prepare a flood plan and an emergency flood kit in case of an emergency.

The downpour of rain could also carry on over the weekend, according to the Met Office.
