A coastguard helicopter landed on a packed Pembrokeshire beach on Friday (August 30) amid reports of an injured man.
Pictures taken by Gareth Davies, who runs the Hidden Pembrokeshire Facebook page, at Freshwater West beach during the afternoon show the dramatic rescue taking place as the HM Coastguard chopper landed in front of a number of sunbathers enjoying the last few days of the summer holidays.
It is understood that paramedics also attended the incident, while unconfirmed reports suggest that a man had been injured on the beach.
Freshwater West beach is a popular destination for locals and tourists.
It was named as one of the top 100 beaches in the world by travel website BeachAtlas earlier this year and was used as the filming location for Dobby's grave in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
A spokesperson for HM Coastguard said: "We responded to reports of a medical incident at Freshwater West on August 30.
"Alerted just before 4pm, the coastguard helicopter from St Athan and rescue teams from St Govan’s and Tenby were sent to the scene, alongside RNLI lifeguards and the ambulance service.
"The casualty was transferred by helicopter to hospital."
