A very successful Country Fayre took place at Cresselly House on Bank Holiday Monday.
The event, hosted by Hugh Harrison-Allen and Ros Beck, was extremely well-attended and featured a novelty dog show which attracted 145 entries, terrier racing, tours of Cresselly House, classic cars and tractors, and delicious food.
Dog owners aged from three to over 80 brought along their furry friends for the 12 novelty classes in the dog show.
Categories included best rescue, golden oldie, waggiest tail and best trick.
Some of the youngest entries were three-year-old Alfie with Pickle, Felicity, aged four, with Toddy, and Coco and Bea, aged six, with Beetle and Snatch.
Every child ended up with a rosette at the end of the day so all went home with enormous grins on their faces
The show was judged by Carol Peett, ably assisted by Freddy Lewis who helped present the prizes, and entries were taken by Jane Watt.
Carol said: “There were some heart rending stories from owners of rescue dogs but all were so happy now with their lovely owners.
“Amongst tricks that dogs performed were walking on their hind legs, spinning, lying down dead and shaking hands.
“We had two beautiful Welsh terrier entered, Bryn and Betty who were from the same litter but with different owners - Welsh terriers are classified as an endangered breed with less than 300 puppies born last year, apparently.
“Local Tenby girl, Peyton Griffiths, won a prize with her pair of chihuahuas and amongst the best markings we had a terrier with markings of Minnie Mouse on his side, a German Shepherd with a Batman mask and a spaniel with a love heart on her side. “
Admission to the whole event was free of charge, with donations requested to Paul Sartori or the RNLI.
