A show celebrating the work of author Terry Pratchett will be coming to Pembrokeshire.

The show, titled "The Magic of Terry Pratchett," will be performed at The Queens Hall in Narberth on September 12, 2024.

The show is a tribute to the 40th anniversary of Pratchett's comic fantasy Discworld series.

Marc Burrows, an author, comedian, and fan of Terry Pratchett, will be hosting the event.

Mr Burrows said: "We’ve been asked to bring The Magic of Terry Pratchett to Wales since the very first show was announced back in the Spring of 2023.

"It’s the number one request on social media posts and emails I’ve gotten, so it’s been a priority for this leg of the tour and something I am so excited for."

In 2020, Mr Burrows wrote the first biography of Sir Terry Pratchett.

The live multimedia show is based on the book and has the full support of Narrativia, the company founded to protect and promote Mr Pratchett’s work.

The show has sold more than 10,000 tickets across the UK in the past year.

The Magic of Terry Pratchett is a comic lecture in which Mr Burrows explores Mr Pratchett's influences, his rise to fame, impact, and unique life, becoming one of the most beloved storytellers of all time.

The show also examines Mr Pratchett's death and the activism he was involved with toward the end of his life surrounding dementia treatment and the right to die.

The show is based on the book, 'The Magic of Terry Pratchett,' but also includes elements of Rob Wilkins’ official biography, ‘Terry Pratchett: A Life in Footnotes’, as well as licensed media.

Mr Burrows said: "Terry’s Discworld, of course, doesn’t have a 'Wales', but it does have an area that is decidedly Welsh.

"The small country of Llamedos (say it backwards), a green land marked by mountains and hills where the main export is rain – a weather condition that endures continually, broken only by occasional showers of drizzle and snow.

"The people there are either druids or miners, they hold Eisteddfod’ (three day festivals of poetry, singing and superb bladder control).

"For all of Terry’s great genius and ability to spin tales of warmth and wisdom, he could never, ever resist a pun."

Sir Terry Pratchett OBE is one of the world’s most widely read authors.

His works have been translated into 40 different languages, sold 100 million copies and have been performed on stage on seven continents.

His short story ‘The Abominable Snow Baby’ was adapted by Channel 4 as a Christmas Day animation in 2021.

Sky released a feature film adaptation of his Carnegie Award-winning book ‘The Amazing Maurice’ in cinemas in 2022, and ‘Good Omens’, a TV series based on the book Mr Pratchett wrote with Neil Gaiman, had a second Amazon Prime season last autumn.

Mr Burrows often writes about culture and social issues for The Guardian, New Statesman, Big Issue, and Independent.

Outside of writing and comedy, Mr Burrows plays in the cult punk band The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing, regularly performing at the Download, Glastonbury, Bestival and Latitude festivals and touring the UK and US.

Tickets for the show are available on the Queen's Hall, Narberth website.
