A charity that provides crucial support to people in distress in Pembrokeshire has received a £1,000 donation.

The Samaritans, based in Haverfordwest, were given the money by the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation after being nominated by staff at the Tenby branch.

This donation will help the charity continue its vital work in the Haverfordwest and Pembrokeshire community.

The Samaritans are available around the clock, every day of the year, offering support to those struggling to cope.

They also work actively to raise awareness of their services and advocate for prioritising suicide prevention.

Laura, a customer consultant at Yorkshire Building Society in Tenby, said: "We are proud to be able to support The Samaritans in our community in Haverfordwest with a donation from Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation."

Janet Neale, a director at the Samaritans, said: "We are really thankful for the donation from Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation that will help us continue to provide our services."

The Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation is sustained by the Small Change Big Difference scheme, where members contribute the pennies from their account interest annually to assist smaller charities across the UK.

In the last year, the foundation allocated more than £283,000 to causes and charities.
