The National Youth Brass Band of Wales delighted audiences in St Davids recently.
On July 27, St Davids Cathedral resonated with the dynamic tunes of Wales' promising young musicians.
The second night of their summer tour featured a powerful conduit between the band and the audience through an extensive and diverse repertoire steered by conductor Erik Janssen.
Highlights included an ambitious modern piece, 'Bipolar', by Stig Aergeerts which captivated the audience.
Four pieces sprung to life with the trumpet solo by the band's former member and Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra's lead trumpeter, Jason Lewis.
The emotionally charged finale, 'I Shall Love but Thee', was beautifully rendered by soprano Clara Greening's solo.
Praise was also given to five percussionists whose instrumental variety lent an orchestral feel to the band, now doubled to more than 50 members since covid restrictions eased.
However, this expansion came with extra costs.
Although aided by core-funding organisations, the band appreciated additional support from bursary fund sponsors, including the Arts Society of West Wales.
Don't worry if you've missed the brass band.
The performances continue at St Davids Cathedral this summer.
The National Youth Orchestra of Wales will be performing on August 30.
