A DRIVER drifted on to the wrong side of the road going round a corner in Haverfordwest resulting in a head-on crash.

Himadhar Alahari, 33, of Cartlett in Haverfordwest, was driving a Nissan Juke on Freemens Way coming from the Merlin’s Bridge direction on December 14 last year.

Alahari drifted across on to the opposite side of the road as he rounded a left-hand bend. This put him directly in the path of a Nissan Qashqai coming in the other direction.

The driver of the Qashqai swerved left to try to avoid a crash, but Alahari’s car continued and ploughed head-on in to the Qashqai.

The court heard that the crash left the driver of the Qashqai with a chest injury, whiplash, and shallow cuts. Both vehicles sustained “extensive damage”.

Alahari pleaded guilty to careless driving at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on August 14.

He was fined £553 and was ordered to pay £110 in costs and a £221 surcharge.

The defendant had nine points put on his licence, but avoided a driving ban due to the impact this would have on his family.
