A delicious day of gardening, cooking and eating sustainable local food will tickle the tastebuds and get you green finger going next month.

Newport Area Environment Group will celebrate the summer’s yield on Sunday September 1, with a full day of gardening, cooking and eating.

Sustainable Local Food: Thriving Together with Nature and People event kicks off at 10am with a guided tour of Nevern Valley Veg where you will meet Naomi and Richard and learn about their veg growing and land.

Then Ein Gegin will present a Field to Plate cookery workshop at Newport Memorial Hall at 12.30pm.

Vegetables will be picked from Nevern Valley Veg for this interactive cookery workshop which will produce a nourishing community meal. Please book onto this event.

From 2pm to 3pm Ein Cegin will serve up a delicious wholesome meal at Newport Memorial Hall. All are welcome and donations are gratefully accepted.

The day will end with best-selling author and gardener Carwyn Graves who will introduce his new book Tir – The Story of the Welsh Landscape which explores the history and ecology of Welsh landscapes, farming and conservation.

Having received excellent reviews, this talk not to miss takes place at Newport Memorial Hall at 3.30pm.
