A six-year-old boy lost his finger after an accident involving a gate at Blaenfos this afternoon.
Fire crews from Crymych were called Frenni Fawr Mountain at 3.20pm. They were told that the child had jammed his index finger in the gate and lost it in the process.
They used small gear to retrieve the missing digit and then stored it, awaiting instruction from paramedics.
The child was airlifted to Morriston hospital along with the missing finger.
