Haverfordwest
The funeral took place at St Thomas' Church, Haverfordwest on March 20th, of Graham Jones, who died at Withybush Hospital on March 14th, aged 53.
Brought up in Portfield, Haverfordwest he attended Barn Street school and Sir Thomas Picton School, followed by several years working for Thomas builders where he took up bricklaying.
He excelled at the trade and became well known as a first class bricklayer.
A lover of sport, he supported Liverpool and particularly enjoyed boxing and rugby.
He was also a member of the RAOB, where he participated in many fundraising activities for charity.
Graham was a gentle, positive person who had a wicked sense of humour and an infectious laugh, which earned him the nickname Muttley'.
The principal mourners were: Lee and Darren (sons); Fred Jones (father); Cathy and Paul (sister and brother-in-law); Fred and Sue (brother and sister-in-law); Christine (sister); Sandra, Steven, Andrew, Michelle, Tracey, Steven, Susan, Anthony, and Nicola (nephew and nieces).
The bearers were Steven and Andrew Ayers and Anthony Jenkins (nephews) and Gordon Cunran (close friend).

The death occurred at Monread nursing home, Stevenage, on March 20th, of Mary Ann Gilbert, a native of Prendergast, Haverfordwest.
The daughter of the late Charles and Sarah Thomas, Mary leaves to mourn Brian Gilbert (son), Barbara Smith and June John (sisters).

MRS V. M. PHILLIPS
KILGETTY
The funeral took place at St Issell's Church, Saundersfoot on March 7th, of Vivien (Viv) Margaret Phillips, of Glan-y-Mor, Brown's Tenement, Kilgetty.
She died, aged 58, at Tenby Cottage Hospital ward, Park House Nursing Home, Tenby, on February 27th after a 14-day stay.
A native of Tamworth, Staffordshire, she trained as a secretary in Dreyton Manor.
After moving to Pembrokeshire in 1972, she worked at David Lloyd's Builders Merchant's in Tenby, Stepaside Garage, Kilgetty, the butchery department at Kilgetty Co-op, Rhodewood Hotel, Saundersfoot and as a receptionist at Tenby Veterinary Surgery. She loved following local cricket and watching her son Christian play for Kilgetty and Lawrenny. She was a member of the England and Wales Cricket Board and Pembrokeshire County Cricket Association.
She also loved horse racing, attending meetings with her husband Dai, played ladies darts for Kilgetty RAOB and loved her pet corgis and cats.
She was a member of Kilgetty WI and Kilgetty Community Council.
Predeceased by her husband Dai in June 2007, she leaves to mourn: Christian and Joy Cole (son and fiance), Joe and Rita Dring (father and mother), Dot Phillips (mother-in-law), John and Ann Phillips (brother-in-law and sister-in-law), Carolyn and Tony Dinan (sister-in-law and brother-in-law), Olga Sheppard and David Williams (sister-in-law and partner), Jenna Phillips (niece), Shauna Dinan and Dean Mason (niece and fiance), Thomas Dinan (nephew).
The funeral at St Issell's Church was conducted by Canon Michael Butler and was followed by interment in the churchyard.
The bearers were John Phillips (brother-in-law), Geoffrey Phillips (cousin), John Bowen and Chris Kirner (Tenby vets) and Kelly Rossiter (friend).

MRS B. H. BOYDEN
JAMESTON
The funeral took place on March 7th at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, of Barbara Hazel Boyden, of Meadow Park, Jameston, near Tenby, who died at Withybush Hospital on March 1st, aged 64.
She had been in hospital since February 24th.
Mrs Boyden trained and started work as a staff nurse at Whiston Hospital, completed part one midwifery and later worked as a staff nurse at Broadgreen, Liverpool.
She served as a district nurse in St Helens, Merseyside, and in the skin clinic in Liverpool, as a sister of occupational health at Whiston, and in family planning at Kirkby, before becoming an occupational health nurse at Ashworth Hospital, Maghull.
She moved to Jameston in March 1995 and worked at Plough Penny Nurseries in St Florence, gaining gardening qualifications there.
Her last jobs were as a nurse in family planning in Haverfordwest and as a staff nurse at Park House Nursing Home, Tenby, retiring in 2007.
On qualifying as a state registered nurse she was awarded nurse of the year for her practical nursing and attended Frankfurt Nursing Convention as part of her award.
She loved gardening and had true green fingers. She was a fuchsia enthusiast and a member of the Fuchsia Society in Pembroke Dock.
She was also a member of Manorbier WI and Ridgeway History Group and enjoyed cooking and baking.
A keen collector and member of Lilliput Lane, she was also a member of the National Trust.
Survived by her husband Raymond, she also leaves to mourn: Stephanie and David Inman (daughter and son-in-law), Michael Inman (grandson), Angela and Tony Coates (younger daughter and son-in-law), Dorothy and Peter Davies (sister and brother-in-law), Joyce and Kevin Barber (sister and brother-in-law) and Sylvia Craine (sister).
The funeral at Parc Gwyn Crematorium was officiated by Rev Robin Webley.

NARBERTH
The funeral took place at St Mary's Church, Walton East, Clarbeston Road, on March 13th, of Norah Elizabeth Godding, of Croft Villas, Narberth, and formerly of St Mary's Avenue, Walton East.
She died on March 5th at Park House Court, Tenby, aged 90.
A native of Walton East, she worked as a housekeeper at various locations before becoming a housewife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Her main interests were her family, but before her health deteriorated she enjoyed regular trips to play bingo.
Throughout her life she was a dedicated member of St Mary's Church, Walton East.
Her husband Alfred Godding died in December 2006 after 56 years of marriage, and she was also predeceased by her elder daughter Maeris many years ago.
She leaves to mourn: Mike and Marj (son and daughter-in-law), Sue and Roy (daughter and son-in-law), Mandy and Jim, Wendy and Neil, Michelle and Adrian, Sharon, Wayne and Janine, Chris and Bev (grandchildren and partners), Michael, Cally, Ashley, Aimee, Vanessa, Shane, Courtney, Finley, Kyle, Nikita, Jim, Ryan, Georgia, Jake, Zak, Imogen (great-grandchildren) and Blodwen Williams (close friend).

Mr H. G. G. Devonald
Fishguard
Henry Glyn Griffiths Devonald died on March 4th, aged 86.
He was born in Fishguard in 1921 and was educated locally until he left to join the Air Ministry in London on 25th April 1939.
He volunteered to join the Royal Air Force but was grounded due to defective eyesight.
He subsequently joined the Army and landed at Aramanches a few days after D-Day, witnessing the 1,000-bomber raid at Caen. Eventually arriving in Germany, he was mentioned in dispatches following an incident involving Russian forces.
Demobbed in 1945, Henry met his future wife at the Welsh Baptist Chapel, in East Castle Street, London. They married in 1949 and lived in Eastcote, then Harrow and had two sons.
His career progressed in the Ministry of Defence, eventually becoming director of contracts for fighting vehicles.
During he became chairman of the London Welsh Association, a freeman of the city of London, a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Loriners, an active freemason and president of the London Pembrokeshire Society.
On his retirement in 1981, Henry returned to Fishguard and became a governor of his old school, chairman of the Fishguard music festival, vice-chairman of the organising committee for the national Eisteddfod held in Fishguard, and co-founder of the Fishguard Goodwick and Lower town Civic Society.
He was also actively involved in the Cymrodorion, the Fish-guard Historical Society and was appointed master of the Peter Drewett Lodge.
Proud of his Welsh roots, he enjoyed a long and happy retirement with Awena in the town where he was born.
Mr D. E. Phillips
Letterston
The death occurred on March 12th at his home, Crossways, Letterston, of Dillwyn Evans Phillips. He was 91.
A native of Star, near Boncath, Dillwyn was born in 1917 and married Olive in 1946, who predeceased him in 2004. They lived first in Dinas, then Cwm-yr-Eglwys, before moving to Letterston in 1950.
He retired from his work with the Ministry of Agriculture in 1982.
He was a devoted family man and derived great pleasure from his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was very proud of all their achievements.
The funeral was held on March 17th at Horeb Chapel, Letterston, when Rev Geoffrey Eynon officiated.
The bearers were Denzil Barlett, Jonathon Lloyd, Phil Morris, Robert Davies, Glyn Thomas and Tom Griffiths.
Family left to mourn are: Barbara Thorne (daughter); Rona and Phil Gale (daughter and son-in-law); Huw and Linda Phillips (son and daughter-in-law); Rhodri, Phillippa, Ann, Sally, Vicky, Tom and Sophie (grandchildren); Alonwy, Dewi, Seren, Callum, Connor, Zachary and Eryn (great-grandchildren).

Mrs I. M. Thomas
Goodwick
The funeral took place on Friday, March 14th, of Iris Thomas, who died on March 8th.
Mrs Thomas was predeceased by her husband Bryn in 2002 and later by her nephew Peter.
For many years she worked in the cash office at RNAD Trecwn.
She and her husband had both been staunch members of the RNLI and Fishguard and Goodwick Bowls Club.
The funeral was held at Berachah Chapel, Goodwick, followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn, Narberth. The service was officiated by Rev J. Roberts and Rev E. Jones. The organist was Mrs S. Williams. The bearers were Mr J. Williams and Mr G. Lewis.
The principal mourners were: Mr M. Watson, Mr and Mrs Ivor Thomas, Mr and Mrs Richard Evans, Mr and Mrs Campbell Morgan, Patricia Mabbett, Mr and Mrs Michael Watson, Ben, Lucy, Celyn and David, together with friends and neighbours too numerous to mention.

Cardiff (formerly of Nolton)
Dorothy Mary (Dot) Hall died on March 9th at Duffryn Ffrwd nursing home in Cardiff.
Dot, who was predeceased by her husband Tom, leaves to mourn: Nicholas, Kathlyn and Sheila (children); Janet (daughter-in-law); Andrew and Clive (sons-in-law), Vicki, Seb, Claire, and Robert (grandchildren).
The funeral took place in Cardiff on March 18th. A memorial service and interment will take place in Nolton at a later date.
Mr D. Williams
Pembroke
The funeral took place at Rhoscrowther church, Angle, on March 25th of Derek Williams, of Devon Drive, Pembroke, followed by a service at Parc Gwyn, Narberth.
Derek was born in Pontypridd but lived most of his early life in Abercynon with his parents and sister Moira.
He left school at 14 and started work at the local Co-op and also met his future wife, Jenny.
He joined the GWR in 1942 as a fireman, working with his father Bert. In 1950 he joined the Glamorgan Police Force but left after a serious car accident in 1957. He joined Texaco as a security guard from 1964 to 1983 when he took early retirement.
He married Jenny in 1947 and they moved to Pembroke with son Derek and daughter Susan in 1964.
The principal mourners were: Jenny (wife); Derek and Liz (son and partner); Susan and Phil (daughter and son-in-law); Sian and Brian, Mark and Carol, Amanda and Tony, Sarah and Ian and Chris (grandchildren and spouses); Ross, Dan, Ashleigh, Chloe, Fran, Lauren, Holly, Becky and Emily (great-grandchildren); Moira (sister); Terry and Cherelyn, Sheila and Mike and families, Eddie, Roy, Jose, Trevor, Gill (nephews and nieces). Also present were many close friends too numerous to mention.
The bearers were Phil, Brian, Tony, Mark, Ian and Chris (sons-in-law and grandsons). The eulogy was given by Amanda (granddaughter). Both services were officiated by Rev Martin Cox.

Mr W. C. Townsend
Kilgetty
The death occurred at Withybush Hospital on March 2nd, of Walter Caleb Townsend. He was 85.
Originally from Ducklington, near Witney, Oxfordshire, Mr Townsend trained as a motor mechanic prior to and after military service.
He also worked at Ducklington Mill producing poultry and cattle feeds and assisted at the Witney cattle auctions.
In the 1960s and 1970s he worked for Morris Motors in Oxford, building Morris Minor 1100s and Maxis. After this he worked for a local garage in Witney.
He later worked as the gardener and handyman for Cogges' farm museum in Witney and moved to Kilgetty with wife Diana when he retired in 1991.
During the war Walter worked in the D&M wing RAC, serving as a tank driver in Italy and Egypt. His military career was exemplary.
Walter was a lovely, humble man, who would help anyone in trouble with no thought for himself.
His main interests were gardening with his wife, Diana (winning Kilgetty in bloom twice), DIY and sea fishing from the shore. His favourite pastime up to the age of 83 was scrambling around rock pools catching prawns for tea.
The funeral was held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, on March 14th. Rev Anthony Gregory officiated.
Family left to mourn and principal mourners were: Diana (wife); Anthony and Christine, David and Mary (sons and daughters-in-law); Annette and Fred, Susan and Tony (daughters and sons-in-law); Adam and Jan, Tracy and Andy, Nathan and Lisa, Christian, Dominic, Natasha and Gary (grandchildren and partners); Danielle, Harley, Connor, Joanna, Caitlin and Lewis (great-grandchildren); David and Karen (nephew and wife).
Family friends, neighbours and carers also attended the service, while apologies were received from Jeff (nephew) and Stan (brother-in-law).

Mr J. D. Sheppard
Pembroke Dock
Joseph David Sheppard, of Flat 4, Peter Court, Bush Street, Pembroke Dock, died on March 4th at Withybush hospital, aged 69.
Formerly of Military Road, Pembroke Dock, Mr Sheppard was a farm labourer during his working life.
He also did voluntary work for the Gateway Club and enjoyed gardening.
The funeral took place at St John's Church, Pembroke Dock, followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn Crematorium.
The service was officiated by Rev Thelma Barber, and the bearers were Malcolm Harries, David Camani, Martyn Bowen and Mark Bowen (nephews).
The principal mourners were: Frances Harries, Lillian Camani, Phyllis Chamberlain, Ruth Mills, Christine and Teifion Hughes (sisters and brother-in-law), and nieces and nephews too numerous to mention.

MR M. K. LEWIS
ROCH
The funeral took place at St Mary's Church, Haverfordwest on March 7th, followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, of Mark Keith Lewis, of C-Air, Church Road, Roch.
Mr Lewis died, aged 81, at Withybush Hospital on March 2nd after a three-week stay.
Born in Walton East, he moved to Haverfordwest in 1966 and to Roch in 2003.
Mr Lewis started his career as an apprentice mechanic at Greens Motors before being called up for national service in the Army.
On his return he worked as a linesman for British Rail until the mid-sixties when he went to work for Automatics Coin Machines Ltd in Haverfordwest. Before retirement in 1991, he worked as a meter reader for the South Wales Electricity Board.
A family man, he liked gardening and was a member of Haverfordwest Bowling Club.
He was also a member of the British Legion and an associate member of the Normandy Veterans' Association.
He was a faithful member and sidesman at St Mary's Church for many years and worked hard on various projects there.
He was a popular man, quiet, sincere and courteous and always ready to help.
He leaves to mourn: Mavis (wife); Carol and Tony Scalisi, Sandra and Steven Thomas (daughters and sons-in-law), Kevin and Judy Lewis (son and daughter-in-law), Neil and wife Bethan, Mark and Laura Thomas, Richard, Andrew and Rachel Scalisi, Nyle and Luke Lewis (grandchildren), Molly Thomas (great-granddaughter) and Kenneth and Olive Lewis (brother and sister-in-law).
The services were officiated by Canon Derek Evans and Canon Geoffrey Gwyther and the ashes were interred in St Mary's churchyard, Roch, on March 10th.
The bearers were Neil and Mark Thomas, Richard and Andrew Scalisi (grandsons).

LLANDISSILIO
The funeral took place at Rhydwilym Chapel on March 1st, of Elvira Eynon, of Llandissilio.
Elvira died at home on February 25th, aged 78, following a period of illness.
Born in Maesteg, she moved to Pembrokeshire after her marriage to Griff in 1952, and they farmed at Llandre Uchaf Llanycefn until 1994 when they retired and moved to Llandissilio.
Elvira was a devoted family person who derived immense pleasure from her grandchildren.
She leaves to mourn: Griff (husband); Ian (son); Sandra (daughter-in-law); Philip and Rhys (grandchildren); John (brother); Mair and Nesta (sisters-in-law); Iris, Ralph, Raymond and Sheila, Pam and Russell, Geraint, Neville, Brian and Shan, and Rhiannon (nephews and nieces and their spouses); John, Beia, Mattie, Estella, Eirianwen and Ken (cousins); Derek, Alan, Endaf, Gareth, Novello, Felicity, John and Mary, Martha and Dewi, Mona, Brian, Emrys, Miva, Eiddwen and Walter, Mattie, Marilyn, Betty and Billy (family members), and Avril, Hilary and Denise (friends).
She was predeceased by her sister Maud. Some other family members were unable to attend the funeral.
The funeral was officiated by Rev Eirian Wyn Lewis and Katrina played the organ.
