The Pembroke Dock Quins returned home safely from Malta last night despite a freak road accident which injured two of the young players.
The trip of a lifetime almost turned into tragedy when two young rugby players fell out of a moving bus.
The group was travelling from Valetta to St Pauls Bay when an adult passenger heard commotion and shouting at the back of the bus.
The back door was open and it soon became apparent that two of the youngsters had fallen out of the door onto the road.
The bus was travelling at around 30mph, with cars following behind, but luckily the boys weren't hit.
The passenger said that one of the boys had grabbed the other and both fell out, with the boy who hit the ground first coming off worst. He had a plaster cast put on his wrist although the injury is thought to be bruising rather than a break.
Although parents suspect that the door was not properly secured, the Western Telegraph understands that no further action will be taken.
