Milford Haven

The funeral of Eunice Davies, of 11 Murray Road, Milford Haven, took place on March 15th, at St Katharine's and St Peter's Church in Milford Haven followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn, Narberth.

Eunice, widow of the late Bill Davies, died peacefully at her daughter's home in Narberth aged 88, after a period of ill-health.

Born in the Fforest, Pontarddulais, Eunice moved to Pembrokeshire when she was 32.

She was an active member of the Mothers' Union for more than 50 years and enjoyed visits from family and friends.

The principal mourners were: Michael and Margaret (son and daughter-in-law); Enid (daughter); Barrie and Jen (son and daughter-in-law); Julia, Paul and Jayne, Andrew and Tracy, Sarah, Jack, Mark and Ana, Donna and Ray (grandchildren); Rhys, Celyn, Griff, Alys and Millie (great grandchildren); and Ruby (close friend).

The bearers were Paul, Andrew, Jack and Mark (grandsons).

There were immediate family flowers only, with donations in lieu for St Katharine's and St Peter's Church, Milford Haven, to Barrie Davies, High View, Pentregalar, Crymych, Pembrokeshire, SA41 3QP.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Tom Newing and Sons, of Milford Haven.

Mr D. Bell

Fishguard

The funeral service took place on Thursday, March 6th of Derek Bell, of 20 Morfa Las, Fishguard. He died at Withybush hospital on Sunday, March 2nd.

Born in Rosebush, Derek moved to Goodwick and later to Fishguard, where he worked as a leading ambulance man for 21 years until his retirement 12 years ago.

The funeral service was held at the Chapel of Rest, Feidr Castell, Fishguard, and was followed by interment in Tabernacle Chapel Cemetery.

The funeral service was officiated by Menna Brown who was assisted by Rev Martin Williams, Rev John Roberts and Rev D. Carl Williams.

The bearers were Gareth Griffiths, Gareth Davies, Hywel James, Anthony Leahy, Robert Rees and Paul Winkler (ambulance personnel).

The service was officiated by Canon John Davies and the Venerable Graham Davies, and the organist was Valerie Llewhelin.

The family left to mourn and principal mourners were: Valerie (wife); Ian and Deb (son and daughter-in-law); Kirsty and Lauren (granddaughters); Mr and Mrs C. James (niece and husband); Mrs L. Phillips, Mr and Mrs A. Williams (cousins); Rev M. Williams and Mr G. Williams (nephews); Mr and Mrs D. Vittle, (sister-in-law and husband); Mr and Mrs Dennis Morgan, Mr and Mrs E. Jenkins, Mrs G. Davies, Mr and Mrs D. Morgan (cousins); Mr and Mrs K. Cowper and Mr I. Cowper (very close friends) together with other friends, ex-colleagues and neighbours too numerous to mention. Unable to attend due to ill-health was Mrs M. Morgan (aunt).

Mr W. B. Colnet

Goodwick

The death of Mr Walter Brynmor Colnet, of Belvedere, Precelly Crescent, Goodwick occurred on Friday, February 8th.

Bryn died peacefully aged 79 years at his home with his family.

A native of Haverfordwest, Bryn joined the army in 1946.

He served for 26 years, the majority of which in the Army Catering Corps, followed by four years in the Territorial Army.

After retiring from the Army, Bryn worked as catering manager for Lewisham Town Council before returning to Pembrokeshire.

Bryn was a keen and active member of the community, and a member of Fishguard Town Council and a county councillor. He also served as mayor twice, calling himself "the twice recycled mayor of Fishguard".

Bryn was involved in the Royal British Legion and Railwaymen's Club, was a governor of the Holy Name School, and was a supporter and member of the Pembrokeshire Labour Party.

The requiem mass was held on Wednesday, February 13th, at the Church of the Holy Name, Fishguard. The mass was celebrated by Monsignor Clyde Hughes Johnson. The bearers were Phil Horrell, Walla Jenkins, Josh Horrell, Alan Colnet, Richard Nicholas and Richard Evans.

Predeceased by his wife Eileen in 1996 and grandson Mark in 1993, the family left to mourn are: Rowena, Peggy and Loretta (daughers); Walla and Phil (sons-in-law); Sarah and Mark, Rebecca and Richard, Hayley, Laurie and Richard, Nicola, Josh, Olaf, Alice, Dylan (grandchildren and partners); Lisa, Lauren, Gemma, Holly, Tom, Jack, Ethan, Charlie and Lola (great-grandchildren); Alan Colnet (brother); Rowena Thomas (sister), and Desmond MacDonald (nephew).

There were family flowers only, with donations in lieu if desired for the Royal British Legion to HSBC Bank, West Street, Fishguard.

Mr J. L. Phillips

Solva

John Lawrence Phillips, of Hamilton House, Solva, died at Withybush hospital on March 3rd, aged 71.

He was born in Haverfordwest and educated at the grammar school. After school he joined the Post Office Engineers as a youth in training, he did national service wih the Royal Signals and returned to work with British Telecom until ill-health forced him to retire in 1985.

John enjoyed singing, painting, fishing, cooking and gardening.

A service to celebrate his life was held at the Chapel of Rest, St Davids, on March 10th. The service was officiated by Rev Rhobert Pattinson, vicar of St Aidan's Church, Solva.

John leaves to mourn: Doreen and Charlie Chase (sister and brother-in-law) and Amanda, Ian, Harriet, Charlie and Bertie (niece and family).

There were family flowers only with donations in lieu to ward ten, Withybush hospital.

Mrs D. G. Morgan

Broad Haven

The funeral of Dorothy Gwendoline Morgan, of Broadway, Broad Haven took place at Parc Gwyn Crematorium on Friday, March 14th.

Dorothy died at Rickeston Mill nursing home on Tuesday, March 11th, aged 88.

She had resided at the nursing home for just over two weeks.

She had been in Withybush Hospital for a few months following a stroke in December 2007. Prior to this Dorothy had been residing with her daughter Christine and partner Michael in Camrose.

A native of The Havens, she had lived at Broadway for nearly 55 years and was predeceased by Vincent 28 years ago.

Those left to mourn are: Elizabeth and Derek Wilkins (daughter and son-in-law); Christine Morgan and Michael Husband (daughter and partner); Kathleen Thomas (sister); Emma and Jonathan Beale (granddaughter and husband); Heidi Snaith and Richard Potts (granddaughter and partner); Eleanor and Emily Beale (great-granddaughters); nephews and nieces.

The service was officiated by Canon B. O'Maley. The bearers were John, Joseph and Nicholas Beavis (nephews) and Jonathan Beale.

The ashes were interred with her husband's remains at Walton West Cemetery on Sunday, March 16th by Father A. Johnson.

Roy Folland and Sons carried out the funeral arrangements.

MRS M. J. WILLIAMS

Hayscastle

The death occurred on Friday, March 14th at ward ten, Withybush hospital, of Morfydd Janet Williams, of Can-yr-Adar, Hayscastle. She was 65.

Born and brought up in Castlemorris, Morfydd married John in Llanglofan Chapel, Castlemorris, in 1963.

They went on to spend their married life living in Hayscastle where they raised two sons, Geraint and Matthew.

When Geraint married Alyson and Matthew married Jayne, she always referred to them as her daughters'.

Her family was complete when her grandchildren Ashley, Sara, Emily and Ben were born.

Her life revolved around her family but she was also a member of Noddfa Newton Chapel in Hayscastle and founder member of Hayscasle WI, where she enjoyed many successes in the craft section at the local show.

She was also a keen gardener who loved her flowers and was actively involved in any community events.

The principal mourners were: John (husband); Geraint and Alyson (son and wife); Matthew and Jayne (son and wife); Ashley, Sara, Emily and Ben (grandchildren); Melfor (brother); Colwyn and Liz (uncle and partner); Mair (auntie); Judith (sister-in-law); Paul, Helen and Kevin, Huw and Gail (nieces and nephews); Meyrick and Jean, and Caroline and Howard (cousins).

The funeral was officiated by Rev Aled Jenkins, Rev Emlyn Jones and Rev Michael Rowlands and the bearers were: Eifion Davies, Glyn Owen, David Harries, John Curren, Emyr Davies and Ian Reynolds.

Mrs L. L. Wilson

Pembroke Dock (formerly of Kilgetty)

Lorna Lillian Wilson died recently at Withybush hospital, aged 82.

Lorna was born in Pembroke Dock and moved to Kilgetty after marrying her late husband Ernest, where she lived for 17 years before moving back to Pembroke Dock.

During the war, Lorna worked in the mining depot in Milford Haven, and later in life she worked at the handkerchief factory in Pembroke Dock.

She loved gardening, walking and watching television.

Left to mourn are: Mr and Mrs W. H. Morgans (brother and sister-in-law); Mr and Mrs G. John (sister and brother-in-law); Victor Wilson (brother-in-law); David Giddins (nephew); Mr and Mrs Tony Batt (niece and nephew); Mr and Mrs Steven Wilson (nephew and wife) and Mrs D. Morgan and Hugh James (niece and partner).

Mrs Wilson's funeral service took place at Parc Gwyn crematorium on March 3rd.

The bearers were Paul Hay, Stewart Treharne, Graham Thomas and Tony Brace.

Rev Thelma Barber officiated the service and the funeral arrangements were carried out by E. C. Thomas and Son.

Mr L. A. M. Smith

Pelcomb

The death occurred at Withybush hospital on February 29th of Leslie Arthur Morris Smith, of Pelcomb Farm, Pelcomb Bridge. He was 92.

Leslie was born and brought up at Talybont-on-Usk, Brecon, before moving to Pelcomb on his marriage to Ethel in 1939.

He devoted his life to farming with interests in anything agricultural, particularly the Pembrokeshire County Show and the NFU.

A true family man he was predeceased by his wife in 1984. Since then he made his home with his son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren at Pelcomb Farm.

The funeral service on Thursday, March 6th at Camrose Church and at Parc Gwyn Crematorium was officiated by Rev Canon Colin Bowen, assisted by Rev Geoffrey Eynon. The organist was Cerwyn Davies, and the bearers were John Williams, Neil Jones, Alwyn Roach and Danny Davies.

The principal mourners were: John and Ilma (son and daughter-in-law); Susan and Andrew, Michael and Joy, Peter and Kate (grandchildren); Helen, Ted and Judith (nephew and nieces); and Jeffrey, Glyn, Doreen, John and Pam (cousins). Unable to attend were Janet, Jessica, Dorothy, Emma, Margaret and Phil (nephews and nieces).

There were family flowers only. Donations in lieu if desired towards the cardiac unit, Withybush hospital, may be sent to Alwyn Roach, Y Bwthyn, Brynawel, Pelcomb Bridge, Haverfordwest, SA62 LEA.

Mrs O. Beasley

Kilgetty

The funeral of Olwen Beasley, of 15 Mayfield Acres, Kilgetty, was held on March 11th. Mrs Beasley died at Withybush hospital, Haverfordwest on March 4th, after a three day stay. She was 88.

A native of Jeffreyston, Kilgetty, Mrs Beasley worked in service after leaving school and when she married she became a housewife.

Mrs Beasley, who was predeceased by her husband Thomas Beasley in 1983, dedicated her life to her family.

The family left to mourn are: Joan Badham (daughter); David Beasley (son); Carol (daughter-in-law); Mark and Kate, Trevor and Becki (grandsons and wives); Cher and Steve, Tina, Lee, Brett and Linzi and Cheryl (grandchildren and partners); Dean, Luke, Stephen, Thomas, David, Calum, Tyler, Summer, Louie, Jack and Dylan (great grandchildren); Faye Griffiths (niece) and Joan Griffiths (sister-in-law).

The bearers were Mark, Lee, Brett and David and Father Paul officiated the service.

There were family flowers only with donations in lieu for Wales Air Ambulance to E. C. Thomas and Son, funeral directors, Archways, Green Plains, Stepaside, who also carried out the funeral arrangements.
