A Milford Haven man has today appeared in front of Swansea Crown Court and admitted wounding with intent.
Simon Craig Hambrook will not now face a trial for attempted murder, which he was initially charged with. The 24-year-old will now be sentenced for wounding with intent next month.
Hambrook, of 10 James Street, Milford Haven, first appeared before Judge John Diehl on January 11th, when he admitted wounding Bradley Harding but denied more serious, alternative charges of wounding with intent and attempted murder.
Hambrook was back before the same judge today and this time pleaded guilty to wounding with intent.
Chris Clee, prosecuting, said discussions had been held with Mr Harding and police officers and the plea was acceptable.
He said the prosecution would no longer pursue the charge of attempted murder.
Hambrook's arrest follows an incident in Meyler Crescent, Milford Haven, on October 19 during which Mr Harding was stabbed.
His barrister, James Jenkins, said Hambrook was under a suspended sentence at the time for other offences and that his record included an offence involving a toy gun and an attempt to rob a petrol station.
Mr Jenkins described his client as "a changed man" after being held in custody since October 19 and "free from anything that could affect him."
Judge Diehl agreed to a defence request for a probation officer to prepare a report into Hambrook's background.
He said a prison sentence was inevitable and Hambrook was remanded in custody until he is sentenced next month.
