An LNG worker who, in a drunken rage, caused over £300 worth of damage to a parked car was ordered to pay nearly £400 by Haverfordwest magistrates today (Monday).

The court heard how Paul John Kenneth Rogers, of 69 John Lewis Street Hakin, had spent the day of August 11th drinking in Milford Haven. At around 11.50pm he had tried to enter the Starboard Hotel but was refused entry.

The court heard how 19-year-old Rogers was very upset on the day of the incident as his mother had had a stroke the day before.

Following a verbal and physical altercation between Rogers and the door staff of the hotel, he then kicked a red Nissan Micra in temper, causing damage to the near side door.

Rogers was arrested and admitted the offence immediately, telling the arresting officer "yes I did it".

Prosecutor Nick Newton said that an estimate had been submitted, stating that the two dents in the car door would cost £323.12 to repair.

Mark Layton, for the defence, said that his client was willing to pay for the damage he had caused and appealed to the court to make the punishment period short so that his client could continue to work on the LNG site.

Magistrates ordered Rogers to pay £323.12 compensation to the owner of the Nissan as well as £60 costs. He was also put on electronically tagged curfew between 7pm and 6am for two months.
