A Pembrokeshire church has launched a Give Twice project to help a county foodbank.
The scheme initiated by St James’ the Great Church, Manorbier aims to encourage people to ask their family and friends (who are able to afford it), to halve the cost of what they would usually spend on their Christmas present to them, and give the other half to Patch (Pembrokeshire Action to Combat Hardship).
The church became aware of the increasing pressure on Patch after it made the charity the focus of its Harvest donations.
Explained Rev Sharon Swain: “We had a huge collection of tinned and dried goods at our Harvest service for Patch,, and were informed by the manager that the charity was facing the worst time she had ever seen, with a huge increase in those needing food."
