The biggest clean up operation ever in Pembrokeshire kicks off today, as Not in My Neighbourhood week begins.
The week is part of the Home Office Changing Lives, Making Communities Safer campaign. The aim of the it is to get local communities involved in bettering their area as well as demonstrating the work being done to tackle crime, drugs, anti-social behaviour and alcohol misuse in that area.
Throughout the week activities will be taking place in and around Haverfordwest, Milford Haven, Tenby, Pembroke, Pembroke Dock and Fishguard.
Pembrokeshire County Council and the Neighbourhood Policing Teams, in consultation with the communities, have highlighted the areas to target.
Activities will include graffiti removal, litter picking and general maintenance tasks such as cutting back hedges.
"There is a mass of activity taking place on the set days throughout the week" said Sally Thompson, of the Pembrokeshire Community Safety Partnership.
"Basically our message to the communities are if you see us come and help us!
"This is all about improving the areas for the communities so the more volunteers we have coming forward the more impact we can make.
"We have already had an excellent response from local community and resident groups and schools as well as all the other agencies who are actively involved in the projects.
"However, we cannot do it without the support of the communities so we look forward to seeing as many people there as possible."
As well as the clean up activity there is also an education aspect to the week. A road show will be travelling to the five towns involved.
PCSOs will also be visiting homes around the clean up areas speaking to people about the project and offering crime prevention advice and the bobby van will be on hand to fit locks and security devices for free to vulnerable residents.
The Mid Wales and West Fire Service will also be carrying out free home fire safety checks and installing free smoke detectors.
Law enforcement activity will be taking place throughout the week.
