THE GRAVE of one of the Wizarding World’s greatest heroes in the struggle against he-who-must-not-be-named has been defaced.
Wizards and muggles alike have paid their respects at the grave of Dobby the house-elf at Freshwater West since the beach was used as a film set for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in 2009.

But now, the grave marker which has stood among the dunes since the magical creature’s death, has been mysteriously removed.
Though only an unofficial gravestone placed by fans of both the films and book series, the memorial in the dunes has been visited by people from around the world for many years.
Hooi-Ling Lim, who lives in Angle, noticed the grave marker had been destroyed when walking at Freshwater West on Monday, April 8, and said it was a shame as a friend of hers had still seen it standing on Saturday (April 6).
Dobby the house-elf, friend of Harry Potter, died at the hands of Bellatrix Lestrange after rescuing Harry and friends from Malfoy Manor during the course of the last book in the series of novels.
Dobby’s grave was dug by ‘the-boy-who-lived’ in the gardens of Shell Cottage, and marked with a stone which said “HERE LIES DOBBY, A FREE ELF.”
Freshwater West was used as the location for Shell Cottage during the course of filming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in 2009 and 2010.

The beach has also been used as a filming location for Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood.
