ON A glorious Summer Evening more than 80 people attended the official opening for the Fishguard Arts Society Summer Prize Exhibition in Tregwynt Mansion.
This wonderful exhibition has attracted admiration for both its diversity and presentation with amazing artwork produced by local artists, some of whom also show internationally with works in both New York and London
The eminent art historian, writer and presenter, Peter Lord, came to judge assisted by Rachel Dean Williams and Jessie Mason, art teachers from Ysgol Bro Gwaun, Fishguard.
After much deliberation the judges came to a unanimous decision, the first £500 was awarded to Eirian Short for her stunning piece worked in this her 94th year, Gravel Garden.
The second £500 prize went to Sarah Lees for a beautifully composed piece entitled Haptic Head.
A further photography prize of £250 given in memory of Ian McMorrin, the winner was chosen by his family who picked Karel Mujica's A Sense of Space.
Waiting to be won is the £150 Public Vote Prize which will be chosen by visitors to the exhibition and announced when the exhibition closes on August 11.
The exhibition is open from 10.30am to 5pm every day. During this period there will be three evening event, A writers' forum, Sstorytelling and music and a concert by Wovoka Gentle.
