SCENES from ancient Britain could soon be coming to the beaches of Pembrokeshire, according to an intrepid photographer.

Work has been taking place to create the world of Roman Britain at Broad Haven South over the last few days, as can be seen in this images captured by Gareth Davies of Hidden Pembrokeshire Photography.

The film set is being built for the second series of Britannia, a historical drama co-produced by Sky and Amazon Prime Video.

A Hidden Pembrokeshire Facebook post said: “A film set is under construction on Broad Haven South Beach. Awesome to see that Pembrokeshire will feature in the second season of ‘Britannia’.”

Set in 43 AD, the first series saw the legions of Rome clash with the druids and wild women of Celtic Britain.

Britannia was confirmed for a return just days after the first series concluded.

Pembrokeshire has been a favourite location for blockbuster films and television series over recent years.

Shell Cottage from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was built at Freshwater West, a beach which also featured in Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood.

More recently, St Catherine’s Island in Tenby featured as a high security prison in the BBC’s Sherlock.
