AN EXHIBITION of oil paintings of a south Pembrokeshire beauty spot is currently being held at Pembroke Dock’s Cwtch coffee shop.
The exhibition of artist Louise Burdett’s works, Views from Lawrenny, runs up to April 10.
Owner and curator Michael O'Dwyer opened the show with a few words on how best to appreciate a painting: “I see these paintings as a reminder of how important it is to actually look - I mean, to see - as if for the first time.
“Our busy lives often do not allow us this luxury. We need to remind ourselves of what is really important, and I think Louise has already discovered what is important to her, from just one glance at these wonderful works of art.
“Also, if you give a painting more time (as a viewer) it will allow you in (as it were). We often do not spend enough time contemplating works of art, in the same way as being in nature, we must allow ourselves to be carried away, get caught up in the moment, so really the best way to form an understanding, an appreciation of a painting is to visit the work several times, because these things take time.
“Every new exhibition, for me, becomes a personal thing. I form an attachment to certain works, because they offer me that moment, to be somewhere else; peaceful, beautiful.”
Michael went on to thank Louise for taking the time to paint these scenes and for reminding us of what a lovely county we live in.
The show is on display from 9am- 5pm Monday-Friday and 9am-4pm Saturdays.
