PUPILS from years 5 and 6 of Pembroke’s Golden Grove School-Ysgol Gelli Aur recently travelled east to visit Big Pit and Cardiff.
First stop was Blaenavon and the National Coal Mining Museum, otherwise known as Big Pit.
The pupils heard about life under and above ground for the many coal miners in the Welsh Valleys and elsewhere.
After Big Pit it was off to Cardiff.
The pupils went on an open top bus tour of the city, walked amongst the hallowed grounds of The Principality Stadium and took an adrenaline pumping fast boat trip around Cardiff Bay basin.
Walking around Cardiff Bay they were awestruck by the famous Millennium Centre and the large scale models made from Lego on display around the area. A fantastic educational and fun visit was enjoyed by all.
Head Teacher Andy Williams said: “This was a wonderful experience for the pupils and they will no doubt remember it for a long time.”
In other school news, following recent a coffee morning at the school it was a pleasure to welcome Denis Evans from MacMillan and Toni Dorking from The Paul Sartori Foundation to the school to be presented with cheques of £175 for their charities.
Mr Williams said: “We recognise the great work done by these organisations and it is our pleasure to support them.”
