PEMBROKE Dock Community School pupils have been celebrating Welshness, learning about pupil’s voices, and even meeting a dinosaur.
The whole school had plenty of fun celebrating Dydd Miwsig Cymru on February 9.
The aim of the day was to celebrate the culture of Welsh music and to bring Welsh language music to life.
Throughout the day, the children listened to and appraised a range of Welsh music, took part in Welsh folk dancing, and even performed the Haka through the medium of Welsh.
The school has also heard recent developments and future plans from the representatives of the school council and Rights Respecting Schools groups at the recent governing body meeting.
Deputy Head teacher Stefan Jenkins said: “Both Kathleen and Ruby spoke beautifully and outlined the hard work of our pupil voice groups. Our governors were very impressed with the professional presentation.”
Pupils from Year 3 had the chance to travel back millions and millions of years, thanks to a fantastic workshop, courtesy of a team of dinosaur experts from Dino4Hire.
The pupils enjoyed finding out about fossils and various different dinosaurs in a highly engaging session.
Ronnie the T-Rex was definitely the highlight, and pupils were stunned when the dinosaur came to life and started walking around them in the dining hall.
The pupils continued to talk about the workshop non-stop for the rest of the day - evidence of a truly stimulating and reading experience for the pupils in Year 3.
