An inspirational Letterston man diagnosed with stage four lung cancer and brain metastasis has donated £2,000 to Fishguard Health Centre.

Since his diagnosis Luke Harding has raised thousands for Withybush Hospital's cancer ward through the sale of #teamHarding and #togetherstronger wristbands.

His employers Gamallt Ready Mix Concreate in Cardigan have also been supportive. Helping raise funds and displaying a giant #Teamharding band on Luke's old lorry.

Local sports teams have also contributed to the fundraising with Fishguard Sports AFC raising more than £1,200 with a New Year's Eve fundraising match and auction.

At the end of January Luke handed over a £12,600 cheque to Withybush Hospital's Ward 10.

Last week he gave Fishguard Surgery a £2,000 cheque. Luke has been a patient with the health centre for over 20 years, along with the rest of his immediate family.

"I made the donation to Fishguard Health Centre because if it hadn't been for Dr Thomas being thorough and sending me to A&E when my observations were showing that I was fine, then we could be looking at a very different scenario," said Luke.

"I'd like to thank the doctors' surgery for going over and above during my treatments and accommodating me throughout. They have been tremendous".

He said he hoped the donation could go towards some new equipment that would help other patients in the future.

"All of my fund raising is to do with raising the profile of lung cancer and to shake the stigma that it has that you have to be a big smoker and old to get it," added Luke.

"I'm 29, fit and healthy and haven't ever been a smoker. Lung cancer doesn't get the money spent on it for research and development like some of the other cancers. If I can do anything to change that and give others a better chance in the future then that's what I'd like to achieve."
