THE historic Pembroke House Hotel in Haverfordwest will be converted into 23 studio apartments after Pembrokeshire County granted planning permission last month.
Carfiff-based TaylorMade Homes will began work on the conversion next month.
The hotel has been lying idle for nearly eight years and has fallen in to a bad state of repair.
The Grade 2 listed building was originally built in 1839 by the local architect William Owen.
The conversion of the hotel into apartments has to take careful consideration of the building’s Grade 2 listed status.
Managing director of TaylorMade Homes, Jeff Taylor, said there is a demand in Haverfordwest for these properties.
“We always seek to improve communities and complement the development of neighbourhoods,” he said.
“Our initial research indicated a local need for high quality, small units of affordable housing. We are delighted to have been granted planning permission to provide this type of accommodation for Haverfordwest.”
The units are targeted for completion by summer 2017 and rents will range around £335 to £450 per month.
TaylorMade Homes will be promoting the development from January 2017 in local media and also online where potential tenants will be able to view plans, register their interest and apply for tenancies.
