THE warm Pembrokeshire welcome served up at Tenby’s award-winning Giltar Hotel has earned it a top Welsh accolade.
The seafront Giltar has undergone a renovation of not only its rooms but its attitude towards guests since being bought seven years ago by business partners Malcolm Brace and Patrick Jenkins.
And it recently triumphed at the Welsh Business Awards when it won the Commitment to Customer Service category.
Staff at the 56-bedroom hotel on the Esplanade were set the goal of getting the Giltar to the top 10 Tenby hotels on TripAdvisor.
The hotel is now currently ranked in third place, withy 91 per cent of the reviews in 2015 rating the hotel service as ‘Excellent’ amd ‘Very Good’.
The jump in the ranking position has led to an increase in bookings, adding to the business’s significant increase in tuyrnover.
The contest was organised by the South Wales Chamber of Commerce, in association with the University of South Wales, and the judges commended the Giltar for its dedication and commitment which ultimately benefited its customers.
They described it “as a worthy winner, as they used feedback to set clear, measurable, short and long-term targets”.
Mr Brace said that the hotel received the award with “great pride”.
He added: “Our thanks go to our wonderful staff who have all worked hard towards winning this most prestigious award.
“Since Pat and I took over the hotel in 2009 we have been lucky in having staff that have worked with us, and have got us to where we are today.
“Our programme for upgrading continues, and we are finally near our goal.”
The category award was sponsored by Centurian.
