IMPORTANT water-safety skills are being learnt at the Rookie Lifesaver club at Kilgetty’s 1 Formula Fitness health club.
Five local youngsters have just gained their Royal Lifesaving Society (RLSS) Rookie Lifeguard Bronze stage 3 certificates on the course, which is delivered by Water Safety Europe.
“We have been very proud to have been a part of this programme since its launch last summer,” said lifeguard trainer Angelo Fecci.
The club has been set up to offer an informative and fun training programme for children aged from six to 12 to encourage them to stay safe on the waterways of Pembrokeshire.
The Rookies train once a week with local lifeguard trainers and swimming instructors to learn essential water safety and basic lifesaving skills alongside improving their swimming.
Recently welcomed into the project is swimming instructor Jeanette Poole, of Poole Swimming.
The Rookie project is now looking for a new batch of local children to take part and anyone interested is asked to contact 1 Formula Fitness on 01834 811788.
