SPLASH Out - which offers surf experiences to young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) - has received a helping hand from Tenby Round Table.
Splash Out organiser Angelo Fecci has been presented a cheque for £350 to be used to purchase a new set of hi-vis rash vests. The funds were raised after a number of Round Table members took part in the Tenby Boxing Day Swim.
"We are extremely grateful to the Round Table for choosing Splash Out as the recipient of their donations," said Angelo.
"Splash Out is a unique event, staffed and managed entirely by volunteers and is free of charge to the participant, with all costs being covered by local sponsorship and donations."
Splash Out's popularity has exploded over recent years, with early signs showing that the 2016 event will be the busiest yet. The event gives young people with ASD the opportunity to partake in activities such as swimming, board paddling and wave riding under the watchful eye of the scheme's volunteer Surf Buddies.
Explained Angelo: "The concept of Autism surf camps is not new, and research has shown that they enable children to be more self confident, feel calmer and generally have a positive impact on lives of those to partake."Splash Out is actively seeing new sponsors to help fund the running costs of the event as well as enable it to expand and offer the unique opportunity to more children from across Wales.
