WORKS to improve access at Pembroke’s railway station have now been completed.
Network Rail has been installing a ‘Harrington Hump,’ a system for raising the height of platforms which in the past have been too low for all but the most able-bodied of rail travellers to use.
The humps have been developed by Network Rail as a low-cost solution to the problem passengers have getting on and off trains where platforms are too low.
Councillor Melanie Phillips of Pembroke Town Council was delighted to have the station re-open after the completion of the Harrington Hump.
Cllr Philips, the station adopter, said that the station is looking delightful; the hump has been completed and there are new signs.
“Everything has been painted and the daffodils are in bloom, it is the best it has ever looked,” Cllr Phillips added.
