THE 2015 Wales in Bloom Competition will be officially launched in Wolfscastle School on Friday, March 27.
Wales in Bloom is the regional element of the Britain in Bloom Competition supported by the Royal Horticultural Society.
Wolfscastle is a ten times winner in the Small Village category and has the honour of hosting the launch, as well as the awards ceremony in September.
The efforts are led by Wolfscastle in Bloom, a volunteer led community gardening group, which was formed to improve the general appearance of the village.
Chairman of the group, Rev Geoffrey Eynon said: “Since the formation of Wolfscastle in Bloom people are taking pride in their community. To some it might just be a splash of colour with a few flower beds, but to us it’s about bringing people together, caring for where we live and encouraging the next generation to look after the environment.
“We’re really looking forward to the launch, as this is the second time we have held the event in the village, the last time being 10 years ago".
To coincide with the ceremony, trees will be planted in the school grounds with the help of guests and pupils. A number of dignitaries have been invited, including the Secretary of State for Wales, the Lord Lieutenant of Dyfed, and the local Assembly Member.
Wendy Raymond, headteacher of Wolfscastle School said: “We are delighted to play such an integral part in this prestigious ceremony, and it is a wonderful opportunity for us to work with the community.”
