Head down to St Davids for a dazzling celebration of Wales’ patron saint today (Saturday).
Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is bringing its annual Dragon Parade to Oriel y Parc Gallery and Visitor Centre on Saturday, February 28.
Hundreds of local school children and residential care group members will take to the streets with handcrafted dragons, accompanied by the 948 Squadron Air Training Corps Band. The procession will be leaving Oriel y Parc at 11am.
Oriel y Parc manager Jenn Jones said: “Oriel y Parc is proud to support the St Davids Day celebrations once again, with the event now an important part of the annual festivities.
“There will be stalls, music, face painting and much more going on so bring your family along for a celebration of Welsh culture.”
At 12pm, the St David’s Day stone in the Oriel y Parc grounds will be lit by the sun, weather permitting.
The procession will then head back to the Cross Square in the city centre, where the Bishop will perform a blessing and the Ysgol Dewi Sant Brass Band will sing the National Anthem.
Local author Eloise Williams will perform a reading from her book Elen’s Island, with two 20 minute sessions at 1pm and 2pm, and visitors can enjoy the Natural Images: Historical Photography Uncovered exhibition to see how Wales has changed over the years.
There is a packed programme of events taking place around St Davids from church and chapel services to a Twmpath dance. For more information visit stdavids.gov.uk or call Oriel y Parc on 01437 720392.
