A FUNDRAISER who is doing a non-stop walk around the coast of Great Britain has received a warm welcome in Pembrokeshire.
Alex Ellis-Roswell, 21, set off from Margate in Kent on August 3 and has challenged himself to walk 6,500 miles over two years to raise money for RNLI lifeboats.
Following the death of his father at Christmas, Alex sold his three year-old advertising business in Canterbury and set off on both a spiritual and fundraising journey of a lifetime.
His father, Sir Raymond Ellis, had dedicated much of his life to charities which inspired Alex to take up this challenge to raise awareness of the work of the RNLI. Alex has met hundreds of the charity’s volunteers at 60 lifeboat stations so far, including those at St Davids and Fishguard on Wednesday, February 25.
He said: “RNLI lifeboat crew volunteers save an average of 23 lives at sea every single day. In my opinion, they’re heroes.
“They put themselves right in the thick of what is Britain’s most unforgiving environment – our sea.
"They receive no government funding for their work and the majority of lifeboat crew are volunteers.”
During his journey, Alex has been camping in his one man tent, sleeping in church doorways and accepting offers of sofas and beds from generous strangers and businesses.

Alex has a fundraising target of £10,000. To make a contribution visit his online sponsorship page: www.mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/longwalkround
