After the applicant failed to turn up at the last meeting to decide its future, there is another chance to discuss the reopening of the former Chequers nightclub this morning (Thursday).
In January, Pembrokeshire County Council’s Licensing Sub-Committee was due to hear an application by Isle of Wight-based Nichola Jayne Berry to reopen the club between 10am-11pm daily.
The application states both live music and recorded music would be played at the venue, if licensing was granted.
It was adjourned when the applicant did not attend and will now be considered today- Thursday, February 26.
Concerns were previously raised by Penally Community Council about traffic and potential public nuisance.
The council said: “Although no objections are given if the building is ran as a tea room/restaurant, the community council would have grave concerns should the applicant change the use back to a nightclub and the alcohol licence and opening hours be extended beyond 11pm.
“Although, within the site, the behaviour of any individuals is governed by the licensee, there must be concerns for what could happen off the premises, especially late at night.”
