There’s a chance to relieve world hunger and also have a good chin-wag in Tenby on each Wednesday in Lent, starting today (Wednesday).
Three local churches -– St Johns, the Salvation Army and St Mary's - have organised six different lunches for £5 each.
The events are known as 'Frugal Lunches' to reflect the austerity of the Lent season. On offer is soup, a roll and a cuppa.
The mini-meals have become an annual event and have raised nearly £1,500 for starving families in the past. Tenby's busy branch of Christian Aid is hoping to beat the record this year.
Lunch dates are: February 25, March 4, St Johns Church, noon-2pm; March 11 and 18, St Mary’s Church House; March 25, April 1, Salvation Army.
Tenby Christian Aid secretary Malcolm Stacey said all the money raised will go to refugees and people dying of hunger. Some of those helped are Christians, many others are not.
Malcolm said: "Everyone in Tenby has to have lunch somewhere, so why not do it in a place where you can help children who're dying of malnutrition every day.”
Anyone who hasn't time to lunch is invited to leave a donation at the doors or with the Christian Aid secretary at 9 Crackwell Street.
