Fishguard Arts Society presents The Battle of Fishguard exhibition in Tregwynt Mansion this weekend, February 21-22.
It was during a social event in the ballroom of the mansion on February 22 in 1797 that a messenger from the Fishguard and Newport Volunteer Infantry arrived on horseback to instruct the young Lieutenant Colonel, Thomas Knox, as commanding officer, of an invasion.
Martin Small and Mark Davies will re-imagine the battle in the middle of the ballroom in Tregwynt Mansion with a 1:5 scale model of all the different factions. They will give illustrated talks at 11am and 3pm.
There will also be an exhibition of associated artworks and artefacts running alongside the model.
Entertainment will be provided on the Saturday night by the celebrated harpist Delyth Jenkins, who will give a concert of Celtic music and her own compositions. It starts at 7.30pm and tickets are available from Seaways Bookshop in Fishguard, or on the door for £6.
