THE owner of an Alaskan Malamute has been ordered to keep it muzzled and on a lead after it savaged a puppy so badly it had to be put down.
Patricia Harrison, 51, of Trafalgar Road, Haverfordwest, admitted being the owner of a dangerously out of control dog when she appeared before Haverfordwest Magistrates Court last week (Feb 10).
The puppy's owner, Rachel Lloyd, suffered bruising on her arm and torso when she attempted to get the Malamute, Alfie, to release her pet, which it "shook like a rag doll".
Magistrates ordered Harrison to pay a fine and surcharges totalling £245.
She was also ordered to pay £839 compensation to Ms Lloyd.
A destruction order was made for the Malamute, whereby it will be put down if it attacks again.
