DON’T be surprised if you spot Superheroes popping up all over Pembrokeshire during the next week or so.
The brainchild of Mark Llewhellin, Super Hero Day is an opportunity to dress up, have fun and raise cash for a worthwhile cause.
The first Super Hero Day was held in Haverfordwest on January 30, 2014 – the birth date of Batman actor Christian Bale - and raised money for Withybush’s Children’s Ward.
This year the fundraiser has expanded beyond the county town and will run until February 13, collecting money for Pembrokeshire SNAP (Special Needs Assessment Playgroup).
“One day isn’t a lot of time for people to join in if they wanted to, so this year we’ve stretched it out to two weeks,” Mark explained.
“I think Super Hero Day will just grow and grow,” he said. “I’m positive it will become an international charity fundraiser.”
Tasker Milward School pupils have already donned costumes to show their support for the event, as have Neyland and Parent Toddlers and SNAP playgroup in Pennar and Withybush Hospital.
Pembrokeshire College, ABC Nursery, Cubs Corner in the Lion’s Den, Stepping Stones Day Nursery, Happy Days and Bright Start Day Nursery have all signed up too.
So far more than £600 has been raised for the cause.
SNAP manager Cindy Jenkins said: “Snap is a registered charity supporting children 18 months to four years with additional needs.
“All money raised will go towards specialised equipment and resources required for the children using the service.
“A special thank you to Mark who has organised and publicised the event to support our group. We are very grateful to all those who took part.”
