FROM Tracy Beaker to Tess of the d'Urbervilles, books have brought a host of exciting and engaging characters to life (and to our TV screens).
This Saturday, February 7, readers great and small are invited to celebrate National Libraries Day at county council libraries across Pembrokeshire.
In Fishguard, enjoy a cup of coffee and with staff between 9:30am and 12pm. There are also drop-in craft sessions for children aged 4-11 between 11am and noon.
Chat about the books you like, and find out more about titles you may enjoy at Milford Haven Library, where staff will be on had to recommend future reads between 10am and noon.
If you’re feeling adventurous, go on a bear hunt at Tenby Library with a session of crafts and stories for ages three to eight, between 1pm and 1.45pm.
To book a free place, contact the library on 01834 843 934.
National Libraries Day is a day to show why libraries are so valued by so many communities, and to highlight the important role they play in people’s lives.
People are invited to visit, talk about and tweet about their local library and its importance to them and their community.
Pembrokeshire's Libraries aren't just for book worms either, you can also use them to research projects, and learn new skills like how to cook, sew, fix a car or learn a language.
You can also borrow magazines, picture books, and audio books - all just by signing up for a free library card.
