A HISTORICAL thriller written in Broad Haven is set to be published next Halloween.
Welsh Author Neil Spring’s spooky second novel, ‘The Watchers’, has been acquired by the publishing house Quercus, which also debuted his first novel.
Neil took his inspiration for The Watchers from the 1970s sighting of a UFO by Broad Haven Primary School pupils, and visited the village earlier this year to research and pen his latest literary offering.
The book - which is based on true events and draws from historical documents - is set during the Cold War in a remote coastal village, whose residents live in the shadow of an ancient secret.
When the local primary school is the scene of a terrifying UFO encounter, a Parliamentary researcher is sent from London to investigate.
Fiction editor at Quercus, Kathryn Taussig, said: “I’m thrilled that we will be publishing another terrifying tale by this talented and promising author. The Watchers will sit beautifully alongside Neil’s first novel, The Ghost Hunters, and is just as compelling and completely page-turning.”
The Ghost Hunters, a novel based on a real “haunted house” and a paranormal investigator, was published by Quercus in 2013. It is currently being developed by Bentley Productions - part of All3Media, which produces Midsomer Murders - for adaptation into a television drama series.
