RESIDENTS from Crymych and the surrounding areas will benefit from a new purpose built GP surgery next month.
The Bro Preseli Community Care Resource Centre is being developed by Hywel Dda University Health Board in partnership with Pembrokeshire County Council, the Preseli Peaks Practice and Family Housing Association as part of their Extra Care Development.
The new facility on the Old Mart Site in Crymych will be a significant improvement for patients who are currently seen by GPs in a temporary building.
This exciting development also includes a new GP surgery as well as facilities for University Health Board staff such as midwives, health visitors, district nurses and therapists. This will mean healthcare staff will be on the same site as social services staff which will result in more joined up working and better overall care for patients.
The GP surgery will be completed in the next couple of weeks and patients will move to the new practice from August 4.
To facilitate the move there will be emergency only appointments on August 1 and August 4, and anyone needing an emergency appointment should call the usual numbers: GP surgery Crymych: 01239 831234, GP surgery Newport: 01239 820397, Health centre/community services: 01239 831313
County Director and commissioner for Pembrokeshire and Project Director for the University Health Board development, Sue Lewis said: “The new facility is a significant improvement from the current temporary buildings which the GPs have been working out of. It has been purpose built in consultation with the GPs and the community to ensure it meets the needs of residents not just now but in years to come.”
