A Newcastle Emlyn grandmother has raised more than £2,200 for autism organisations in a series of fantastic fundraisers.
Hairdresser Pamela Atterbury's grandson was diagnosed with autism at the age of two and a half. At the suggestion of her clients and colleagues Pamela set about raising money for local and national autism charities.
Her most recent effort was a fundraising walk along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path on Sunday, June 29.
The owner of A Cut Above in Newcastle Emlyn led a group of 23 hikers, ranging in age from ten to 69, on a sponsored walk from Tenby to Saundersfoot
"It was a fantastic experience," said Pamela."The scenery was wonderful with woodlands, sea views and foxgloves everywhere. It was hard going at times – in one stretch there are nearly 160 steps to climb.
"Everyone made it right to the end and we raised hundreds of pounds for local organisations that support people with autism."
"I can't believe how much money we've raised. It's incredible really the kindness of people."
The walkers were greeted on arrival at Saundersfoot beach by Pamela's grandson four-year-old Casey and his parents Adam and Donna Jones.
Pamela had previously raised £1,700 from donations, a coffee morning and a raffle in Newcastle Emlyn in May. Her next fundraising mission will be a sponsored skydive on her birthday in August.
"I'm a little bit apprehensive," said Pamela. "I don't know how I am with heights. I'm going to find out."
