Friends, family and loved ones of talented runner Sulien Luckman - who died last year aged 12 - are gathering once again to remember him at the Pendine Sands Fun Run.
Friends of Tavernspite School (FOTS) have organised the fun run for a number of years and have dedicated the last two to the memory of former pupil Sulien.
The funds raised at the event on Sunday June 8 will be split between the Spirit of Sulien Trust and FOTS.
“We are a healthy school and so the Fun Run fits into our ethos of staying fit and active,” said headteacher Kevin Phelps. “It’s been a wonderful event over the years, with everyone from the youngest children in the school to some very fit grandparents taking part.
“Sulien was a great runner and so it is very fitting that half of the money raised will go towards the Trust set up in his name.”
Sulien’s mother Rachel said: “This was one of Sulien’s favourite events and it’s wonderful that the Trust we set up to celebrate his life is going to benefit from it this year.
“The Trust aims to help support activities, organisations and concerns that were important to Sulien, in particular helping young people in West Wales.”
The fun run has six age categories, from Early Years to adults, with trophies for the fastest boy and girl in each category. Winners will also get a special tee shirt and all finishers win a medal. It costs £2.50 to take part in the 2km race and £5 for the 5km.
*The Pendine Sands Fun Run takes place on Sunday, June 8, registration opens 10am, kids 2km starts 11am , 12 years plus 5km walk at 11.30am and 5km run at noon.
