PERMISSION has been refused to site a 50kW wind turbine just outside of Tegryn.
The application from DC21 Group was discussed by councillors sitting on the planning committee on Tuesday, May 20.
The proposal for a 34.5 metre turbine at Brynawelon was recommended for refusal. The report from the Director of Development said: “By reason of the turbine’s size and location, it would have a significant adverse impact on the character and visual amenity of the area, including the setting of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park."
Objections to the scheme were received from the council’s Head of Highways and Construction, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, and the British Horse Society, as well as eight letters of representation.
Among the concerns raised were the impact on users of the Frenni Fach, users of the bridle path, protected species, tourism and property values.
A statement read on behalf of the local councillor Rod Bowen, who could not be present at the meeting, said: “I fully agree with the contents of the officer’s report.
“I have received numerous negative comments about this wind turbine.”
Councillor Brian Hall’s motion to refuse the application was seconded by Cllr Peter Stock. Councillors voted all in favour for the recommendation for refusal.
