PLANS to site a wind turbine in the Llanfyrnach area were described as a ‘breath of fresh air’ before being approved by councillors last week.
The planning application from Brian Thomas sought permission for the 45 metre structure to be built on pasture land at Llwyncelyn Lan.
The site is approximately two kilometres south east of Tegryn and six kilometres south east of Crymych. It is accessible from an existing gateway off a minor road between Blaenwaun and Tegryn.
The application was recommended for conditional approval when it came before Pembrokeshire’s planning committee on February 4.
Addressing members, Mr Thomas said: “We believe in taking advantage of the farm’s wind speed.
“The wind turbine would allow us to secure the farm’s future while making a contribution to the economy.”
Councillor Rod Bowen said: “I’ve got no problem in supporting this application, it is well suited to the area.”
Cllr Keith Lewis added: “This application is a breath of fresh air in that there are no objections.
“It is judged to be necessary to the success of the applicants farming business.”
Cllr Bowen’s motion to approve the proposal was seconded by Cllr David Bryan. The vote was unanimous in favour.
