A KIND-hearted student from Ysgol Bro Gwaun is doing his bit to help fight the country’s biggest killer.
With 4,400 deaths from coronary heart disease and more than 125,500 people living with coronary heart disease in Wales, British Heart Foundation (BHF) Cymru is asking people to ‘Ramp up the Red’ and join the fight for every heartbeat on Friday, February 7.
Tim Clarke from Fishguard will be organising events at his school, such as a dress down day, and will also be climbing Snowdon on February 8.
Tim said: “I am looking forward to climbing Snowdon it will take a total of seven hours. I chose the BHF as it is a charity that is close to all our hearts and has helped so many people.”
Jayne Lewis, local fundraising and volunteering manager for BHF Cymru said: “I am delighted that Tim is supporting the Ramp up the Red appeal.”
She added: “Whether it’s wearing red make up, donning some fetching red trousers, a traffic-stopping little red dress or painting your nails a scarlet shade, the BHF is urging you to go as red as you dare and organise a Ramp up the Red party with friends, families and colleagues to raise funds that will go directly towards vital research, support and care for those suffering with heart disease.”
Last February, Wales was part of raising a grand total of more than £300,000 to support the BHF’s life-saving research. These funds contributed to £5.3 million of active research grants that the BHF currently have in operation in Wales.
