THE mayor and mayoress of Pembroke are preparing to scale new heights this St Davids Day.
Adventurous duo Councillor Keith Nicholas and his wife Karen, will be abseiling down the Great Tower at Pembroke Castle in aid of charity on March 1.
And as the big day approaches, they are “looking forward” to the challenge.
Cllr and Mrs Nicholas will be joined by deputy mayor Cllr Aaron Carey, and Cllrs Clive Collins and Aden Brinn.
Town clerk Suzie Thomas, assistant clerk Virginia Taber and town hall staff Rose Howson, as well as friends and family Arron Nicholas, Sue Shanley, Martyn Nicholas and Marie Davies, Andrew McDonald of Bevan & Buckland Accountants, and HSBC Pembroke manager Stella Rowland.
All money raised will go to the mayor and mayoress chosen charities, the HOPE Multiple Scerosis Centre in Neyland, and Withybush Hospital maternity unit.
“When we were approached by Keith and Karen Nicholas about the abseil, we were thrilled to have been asked and accepted the challenge,” said Ms Rowland.
“So along with myself, Louise Davies and Lydia Thomas, we decided we would like to help local charities while doing something a little bit different. And this is different.”
“We've traditionally supported charities, by doing a sponsored race, for instance, or like our ongoing support of PATCH by setting
up the foodbank at HSBC Pembroke.
“We aim to raise as much as possible to support these very worthwhile causes. None of us have done an abseil before, so we are excited by the prospect, but also a little bit scared.”
Any sponsorship will be greatly appreciated and can be made via Pembroke Town Hall. Thank you.
