MORE than 70 businesses descended on the Bridge Innovation Centre, Pembroke Dock, last Thursday (January 16), for Pembrokeshire Tourism’s AGM and annual tourism summit.
The day began with AGM which saw a number of changes to the Board of Directors.
After two successful years, outgoing Chairman Tim Brace of FBM Holidays handed over the reins to Jane Rees-Baynes of Elm Grove Country House.
Three new directors were also elected - Ian Griffiths of Celtic Camping and Bunkhouse and Accommodation, Lee Griffiths of the Big Local App South West Wales and James Parkin, director of Delivery and Discovery at Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority.
The focus of this year’s summit was digital marketing.
Daniel Rowles of eConsultancy spoke about different types of digital marketing and how to determine and measure the best outlet for your business.
This was followed by a presentation on the importance of using the Welsh Language in businesses by Keith Evans, of the Welsh Language Commissioner's Office. Seminars highlighting the importance of social media as a marketing tool and the potential opportunities of using Wikipedia were also held.
Pembrokeshire Tourism’s newest member Sylvia Thomas of East Trewent Farm Holiday Cottages and Bed and Breakfast was impressed.
She said: “The Tourism Summit was very informative. Throughout the day I picked up a great deal of knowledge which I am now going to put in place.
“All the presentations and seminars were delivered to the highest standards. As a new member of Pembrokeshire Tourism I am very impressed with the quality of training and support available to me already.”
