AN award-winning band will join forces with one of Wales’ most exciting choirs for a fundraising concert at St David’s Cathedral next month.
Goodwick Brass Band will come together with Cor CF1 on Saturday, February 15
The concert entitled ‘Brass and Voices’ was the brainchild of Goodwick Brass Band player Hywel Davies, who works in Cardiff and also sings with the choir.
After its magnificent competition record in 2013, Goodwick Brass Band is preparing for the challenge of first section competition, and the forthcoming concert will be the ideal launch pad for the 2014 campaign.
The enthusiastic and youthful Cor CF1 was only formed in 2002, but has consistently impressed in Cor Cymru and at the Urdd Eisteddfod, as well as building a strong following through its impressive concert work.
Based in Cardiff, but with members from all over Wales, Cor CF1 is conducted by Eilir Owen Griffiths. Its repertoire should complement Goodwick’s imaginative concert programme conjured up by musical director Matthew Jenkins.
Tickets for the cathedral concert are available from the West Wales Arts Centre Fishguard, Goodwick Post Office, St Davids Bookshop, Yr Hen Emporiwm Cardigan, Musicians World, High Street, Haverfordwest, and on the door.
A bus is being arranged for concert followers, starting at Fishguard Square at 6pm, picking up at Goodwick Square at 6.15pm, and Dyffryn, Goodwick at 6.20pm.
The bus charge will be £5 per person. Transport bookings will be taken by Tony Evans on 01348 872967 or Sian Jenkins on 01348 874228 (evenings).
