A 24-YEAR-OLD Milford Haven woman who stole more than £1,300 from her grandparents appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates court on Tuesday (January 14).
Jodie Louise Farrow, 24, of Charles Street, Milford Haven, pleaded guilty to fraudulently writing cheques totalling £387.28 and stealing £936.84 from Jeanette and Harold Evans between September 6 and December 2.
Julie Norman, who prepared a probation report on Farrow, said she was leading an ordinary life, working at a care home and living with her boyfriend, up until last September.
But then Farrow was made redundant and her boyfriend was sent to prison. She was left living in a flat by herself, with mounting debts which she did not want to discuss with family.
The court heard Farrow had always intended to pay the money back, she was extremely remorseful and is hoping to repair the relationship with her grandparents.
Magistrates sentenced Farrow to a 12-month community order with 200 hours unpaid work and ordered her to pay £85 costs and a £60 victim surcharge, as well as £1,324.12 compensation.
